Finally! A Non-Garter Log Cabin Blanket

Our Log Cabin Blanket includes a gorgeous 3-color center square and three stitch patterns options that follow the same super easy pickup process as the traditional all garter log cabin blanket. This is a really fun new twist on an old standard that's not for baby only!

  • Gauge/Yarn
The samples where knit with Karabella Aurora 8 with a label gauge of 4.5 stitches per inch. If you are an experienced knitter you can try a larger gauge and use the pattern as a guideline to adjust the number of pick up stitches for each side.

The sample is knit with 3 balls each of 3 colors (9 balls total of yarn about 100 yards each). If you use 4 colors you can use 2 balls of each color (total 8 balls). The pattern comes with ideas for color layout in both 3 and 4 color palettes and a blank coloring page for you to try your ideas with color pencils before you commit to the yarn purchase.
  • Size
The sample is a 28" square, the perfect size for a stroller or car seat. However, you can add as many 'logs' as you'd like which makes if great for adults too.
  • Difficulty
This project is good for any knitter who is not a true beginner. You'll be working some straight forward stitch patterns and need to be able to pick up stitches along an edge.
  • Notions
Standard knitting notions needles, tapestry needle and markers. You'll want to use circular needles to hold the larger number of stitches as you get going.
