This is the second in a trio of hat patterns designed to demonstrate the uses of Showy & Subtle Decrease. Here the emphasis is on Showy vertical lines. The Vortex Hat demonstrates the easier diagonal Showy line and the Yosemite Hat will use Subtle Decreases to remake the simple ribbed hat.

    • Wavy Tail or Resilient Cast On
    • Double Decker Hat Closure
  • Gauge & Yarn
    Yarn Gauge: 6 gauges provided from 3.5 to 6.0 stitches per Inch. You will knit slightly tighter than ball gauge.
    Yardage: MC 100-125 yards, CC 20 yards
    Sizes: 5 sizes, infant to adult large

    Gray hat knit with Karabella Margrite (ball gauge of 5 sts per 1").
    Chunky weight blue hat is knit with light and airy Ariosa by Classic Elite at 4 sts per 1".
  • Difficulty
    Knitters should already be comfortable with working with 2 circulars. There is some chart reading. The Vortex Hat with rib brim is easier for beginner knitters.

    Hat sizes includes five sizes: infant to large adult.
